Privacy Notice

The International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis (ISPD) is committed to protecting the privacy of all members and guests who visit the ISPD website. This policy was developed in the interest of protecting that privacy. ISPD adheres to all federal laws and the EU GDPR. The ISPD website collects data only to better serve members and other users of our website. This policy applies only to ISPD’s website, www.ispdhome.org.  It does not apply to the websites of any member or to any websites operated by organizations or groups who associate themselves with ISPD, nor does it apply to any websites featuring links to the ISPD website.  Our privacy policy does not apply to the practices of organizations or persons not owned, controlled, managed or employed by ISPD.  This policy will be periodically reexamined as technology, business and legal requirements change.

Please regularly review our Privacy Policy. If you have objections to the Privacy Policy, you should immediately discontinue use of the ISPD website. This Privacy Policy does not govern privacy practices associated with offline activities, websites other than www.ispdhome.org, or any products or services not available or enabled via the ISPD website. By using our website, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the data practices described in this Privacy Policy, you should not use our website.

Collection of general data and information

When you browse the ISPD website without an account, you are anonymous. Account creation is voluntary and application for membership is voluntary. ISPD does not collect personal information about any person that is not provided voluntarily.

The ISPD website collects a series of general data and information when a user or automated system visits the website. This general data and information are stored in the server log files. Collected may be (1) the browser types and versions used, (2) the operating system used by the accessing system, (3) the website from which an accessing system reaches our website (so-called referrers), (4) the sub-websites, (5) the date and time of access to the Internet site, (6) an Internet protocol address (IP address), (7) the Internet service provider of the accessing system, and (8) any other similar data and information that may be used in the event of attacks on our information technology systems.

When using these general data and information, ISPD does not draw any conclusions about the data subject. Rather, this information is needed to (1) deliver the content of our website correctly, (2) optimize the content of our website as well as its advertisement, (3) ensure the long-term viability of our information technology systems and website technology, and (4) provide law enforcement authorities with the information necessary for criminal prosecution in case of a cyber-attack. Therefore, the ISPD website analyzes anonymously collected data and information statistically, with the aim of increasing the data protection and data security of our enterprise, and to ensure an optimal level of protection for the personal data we process. The anonymous data of the server log files are stored separately from all personal data provided by a data subject.

Collection of Personal Information

ISPD captures individual information, including contact information and demographics for the purpose of doing business with ISPD, including: membership, store purchases, education and research, event attendance, continuing education credits, subscriptions, and other services. To gain access to members-only areas and personalized features or to make purchases on the ISPD website, users must create an ISPD account and provide individual information. If the user selects to opt-in, information submitted online may be used for other ISPD marketing uses, such as email and mail notifications of upcoming events that match the interests provided us. This information is submitted voluntarily.

Do not provide personal information about others unless you are authorized or required to do so by applicable law or contract. Before supplying personal information about others, you and the person about whom you supply the information must review and consent to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy of the Website. By submitting any personal information about others, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to do so, that you have made the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy available to the person about whom you supply the information, and that you have obtained that person’s written consent to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If applicable law allows you to supply the information without doing the foregoing, you represent and warrant that you have abided by that law and that it allows us to receive and disclose the information under this Privacy Policy without any further action on our part. You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless ISPD, our parents, subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees and agents, sponsors and supporting artists, licensors and suppliers for any failure by you to comply with this paragraph.

If you apply for membership, register for training or a conference, or request any other product or service, ISPD collects information from you such as your name, title, company, address, phone, fax, e-mail address and professional discipline/interest.  This information is collected only if you give it voluntarily.  Information provided to ISPD will be used internally to process your specific request and will not be sold or shared with outside parties.  Your information may be used to send you ISPD publications, information relating to upcoming ISPD activities or important membership announcements. In addition, ISPD makes members’ contact information available to other members through the Members-only website.  This information can only be accessed with a legitimate ISPD username and password; for this reason, we strongly urge you limit unauthorized access to your ISPD username and password.  You may edit your contact information at any time through your account on the website.  If you have difficulty editing your information online, you may update it by calling or e-mailing ISPD headquarters at +1.434.979.4773 or info@ispdhome.org.

Cookies
  • Cookies are text files that are stored in a computer system via an Internet browser. Cookies are commonly used by websites to make accessing that website faster and more efficient. Many organizations use cookies to track your shopping cart, for example, so that you can purchase several items or services at one time instead of having to purchase each item at the time you select it. ISPD uses cookies to monitor statistics regarding your visit to the website (such as how long you visited, what web pages you visited on our site, etc.) and to hold items in your shopping cart for you. We use "session-only" cookies, which are deleted from your computer’s memory when you close your browser window. You can set your internet browser to not accept cookies, or to ask you before accepting certain types of cookies, but this may keep you from having access to all of the benefits of the ISPD website. In most cases, a medium level of cookie security will allow you to log in to and use the ISPD site. Using cookies in this manner is standard across the majority of all websites.
  • Users may, at any time, prevent the setting of cookies through our website by means of a corresponding setting of the Internet browser used, and may thus permanently deny the setting of cookies. Furthermore, already set cookies may be deleted at any time via an Internet browser or other software programs. Please be aware that some of our services will not function if your web browser does not accept cookies. However, you can allow cookies from specific websites by making them "trusted websites" in your web browser. To learn more about the functionality of cookies, please visit www.allaboutcookies.org. This site includes instructions on how to manage your cookie settings on a wide range of browsers.
