Dear ISPD Community:
I hope this newsletter finds you well. ISPD has had a very busy few months, highlighted by our 27th International Conference in Edinburgh, UK, 18-21 June 2023. The conference, chaired by Drs. Anna David and Sandi Deans, attracted over 600 attendees with over 430 joining us in person at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. A huge thanks to all our speakers, poster presenters, exhibitors and industry partners, and attendees for joining us for a valuable four days discussing the latest in prenatal diagnosis and therapy. Please make plans to join us in Boston, MA, USA, 7-10 July 2024!
All members are invited to attend the upcoming General Business Meeting of Members, which will be held at 9 AM Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, 26 September 2023. This meeting will discuss the latest plans the ISPD Board has for the Society and review how the Society has weathered the COVID pandemic over the past few years.

Lynn Bush, SIG Co-Chair
Excerpt:
Our SIG educational breakfast considered the theme, "Navigating the Landscape of Language: How do we interpret roses with thorns?” with diverse attendees engaging in rich discussion with panelists April Adams, Jane Fisher, Dora Mayen, Mark Pertile, Asha Talati and SIG co-chairs/moderators Lynn Bush and Katie Ellis. Panelists shared case exemplars that evoked reflection and insights from fellow panelists as well as the audience. Highlights include parent-panelist Jane Fisher illustrating why it is critical to have a parent sitting at the proverbial table/dais, while Dora Mayen, from Mexico, reminded us that much of the world does not have access to genetic counselors, and that “genetic counseling” is typically provided by physicians - a reality in many parts of the U.S. This was poignantly echoed by clinical providers, April Adams, as experienced in Texas, as well as Asha Talati, regarding practice in parts of North Carolina. Attendees were further enriched by Mark Pertile showing us in real-time, the importance of ongoing conversations between laboratory professionals and clinical teams who too infrequently exchange perspectives.
